Explore Transplant Patient Education Components
You talk to patients everyday that are in many different stages in their transplant decision-making. Some patients may be ready to be evaluated, while other patients may be closed to transplant as an option entirely. Our goal, by utilizing Explore Transplant, is to enhance and support what you are already doing to educate patients about transplantation.
Explore Transplant, as it has been designed, involves four meetings that generally occur while kidney patients are undergoing dialysis. The educational content can also be modified for use in other individual and group educational settings. We recommend that the educational videos and materials be reviewed by both patients and their family members. All materials are available in Spanish and English. Fluent Spanish-speakers translated and back-translated the materials, and reviewed the content to ensure consistency between the two versions.
The outline of the four meetings and educational content is listed below:
- Meeting One: Exploring Transplant
- Meeting Two: Kidney Recipients’ Transplant Experiences
- Meeting Three: Living Donors’ Donation Experiences
- Meeting Four: Deciding What to Do
